Happy new year, everyone!

Two things to report on today.

First, as you’ve seen on the Home Page, my 2008 calendar is now for sale. Go to http://www.lulu.com/daverudin for more details.

Secondly, I’m proud to announce that my blog, Figures of Grace (http://figuresofgrace.blogspot.com/) has been awarded the top honor, Best Overall Nude Blog, in the 2007 Fluffytek Photographic Nude Blog Awards. Read about it and all of the winners at Fluffytek’s website, http://www.fluffytek.com/blog/2007_12_01_archive.html .

Thank you, Richard and Lin, for the honor.

Well, it’s finally here. Carrie Leigh’s NUDE magazine officially hit newsstands and Border Books last Friday, September 14. As I’ve written previously, this premiere issue features an eight-page feature on me and my photography.

If you like my photography and/or BW fine art nudes, I think this publication will interest you. The printing quality is also excellent so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Quantities may be limited and apparently some dealers are keeping the magazine in different sections, so if you look for it and can’t find it, please ask.

It has been a while since I made any updates here. One reason is that I was hit by a car in May, and although my injuries were not terribly severe, they were serious enough to prevent me from developing film and doing other photographically related things for some time. I’m trying to catch up now.

Although I have not uploaded any photos here recently, there are other things to report. The first is that an eight page feature about me and my photography will appear in the premiere issue of the magazine Carrie Leigh’s NUDE (http://www.carrieleigh.com/). It should be available for sale by September 14, so look for it at Borders book stores and good newsstands.

There have also been a number of references to my photography on the web recently. Here are some:

Today I launched my weblog, which can be seen at http://figuresofgrace.blogspot.com/ .  Please stop by to see some more photos, keep up with what I’m doing photographically and read my thoughts about my photos and photography in general. Thank you.

Yesterday the postman delivered a copy of the latest edition of The Photo Review, a highly respected publication dedicated to fine art photography. This is the issue with the winners of the magazine’s annual photo competition and one of my photos  was selected for publication in this issue.

Though I was not among the small number of prize winners, I am pleased that my photo was among the 100 chosen to be published. The image depicts the foot of a colossal guardian figure at the entrance to the Zenko-ji Buddhist temple in Nagano, Japan.

This is the second time in two weeks that I’ve seen one of my photos published in a major publication. (See below.) Hopefully there will be more to follow.

I finally saw a copy of the Jan/Feb issue of the French magazine PHOTO today, and I am happy to report that this photo of mine appears in it on page 47:

This is the magazine’s annual contest issue, the Concours Amateurs, and the cover states that over 50,000 images were sent in but it appears that less than one percent were published.

I think this is the fifth time since 1999 that they’ve printed one of my images. Another was posted on the magazine’s website another year [link].

This photo made last year of Carlotta in the Nevada desert,

Some kind words were written about my photos on the Italian website Delta di Venere (Delta of Venus). The translated Italian text reads as follows:

Magnificent glamour nudes in most classical black & white by Dave Rudin, a photographer from Brooklyn, who searches for inspiration in the fascinating wild locations of New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona and Scotland. Classy shots and delightful models: remarkable.
